Friday Night Funkin (FNF) is a free open-source rhythm game created by ninjamuffin99, PhantomArcade, evilsk8r, and Kawai Sprite. Originally submitted to Ludum Dare 47 in 2020, it became a viral phenomenon and has since grown into one of the most modded browser games ever made.
The story is simple: you play as Boyfriend, a blue-haired kid who needs to win rap battles against a parade of increasingly bizarre opponents — all to impress Girlfriend and stay on her protective father's good side. The music gets harder, the cast gets stranger, and the challenge escalates week by week.
Click the game window to focus it, then choose Story Mode to follow the weekly campaign or Free Play to jump into any unlocked song. Select your difficulty — Easy, Normal, or Hard — and press Enter to start the battle.

Each note hit counts toward your score multiplier. Sick (perfect timing) gives the highest multiplier; Good, Bad, and Miss reduce or reset it. Your final grade depends on the ratio of Sick hits to total notes — chase that S rank by minimizing any mistimed presses.
The base game ships with seven weeks, each introducing a new opponent and three songs. Daddy Dearest sets the tone in Week 1; Spooky Month siblings, Pico, Mom, Parents, and Tankman follow. Each week escalates the BPM and pattern complexity significantly.
